Theme of the meeting: Digitalization – the future of building control
We’re pleased to present a summary of the 70th CEBC Business Meeting, which took place in the capital of Poland, Warsaw, from June 1 to 3, 2025. The meeting, hosted by the General Office of Building Control, focused on the theme “Digitalization – the future of building control.”
The official business agenda commenced on June 2. Opening remarks were delivered by CEBC President Mr. Sergio Vazquez and Mr. Filip Prusik-Serbinowski, Deputy General Inspector of Building Control. The morning sessions explored the information about Polish building control system, featuring key contributions from Ms. Ewelina Grabowska, Mr. Marcin Cudak, Ms. Iwona Tokarska, and Ms. Maria Ostaszewska-Cichocka.
Further insights were offered in a continuation of this theme, including presentations on the role of geodetic records in investment processes (Mr. Jarosław Somla) and the strategic importance of civil engineering chambers (Mr. Tomasz Piotrowski).
The afternoon turned to technological advancements, with a session devoted to artificial intelligence and process automation in building control. Innovative approaches were presented by Mr. Max Van Riel , Ms. Anna-Riitta Kallinen, and Mr. Jaan Saar. A panel discussion and interactive workshops followed, encouraging further dialogue.
The final session of the day offered international viewpoints. Mr. Vytautas Ambrazas of the OECD outlined best practices for effective regulation, while World Bank representatives Mr. Alessio Zanelli and Ms. Ana Maria Santillana Farakos shared key takeaways from permitting data across regions.
On June 3, the second day of formal proceedings began with a case study on Madrid’s permitting automation, presented by Ms. Marta Parro Pérez. This was followed by the CEBC Members Update, where representatives shared current challenges and innovations in their respective countries.
Within the meeting, the General Assembly of CEBC also conducted the election of new Policy Committee Members. The elected PC Officers include Dilay Gursoy from Turkey and Risto Levanto from Finland.
